Launched as a quarterly subscription magazine late in 1998, 15 loose leaf issues
of The Greek-o-File were published until June 2002. Starting with an Introductory
Issue (the first for all subscribers) Greek-o-File Magazines comprised 28-30 A4 pages,
punched to build into a FILE on all things Greek with articles under regular headings:
Front Page - usually current affairs, plus a list of magazine contents
Letters Page - reader views, suggestions and questions
Places to Go - Profiles with maps, personal readers’ & editor’s travel experiences,
travel notes.
Features - eg House Buying, Driving a car to Greece, Medical Experiences, DIY, Natural
History, Working in Greece and other articles which could not be classified
Food & Cooking - articles on food and drinks, plus recipes to try.
Greek Life - Traditions and Anecdotes on Life in Greece
History - from Ancient Greece to Modern History
Mythology - Tales from Ancient Greece - Gods, Heroes, Mythical Creatures and People
Greek Language - beginners lessons and more advance grammar
Book Reviews - books about Greece and novels set in Greece
Music - articles about and recommendations for Greek Music, musicians, instruments,
etc.
Contacts - advertisements for our supporters - suppliers of holidays, services &
products for lovers of Greece
All former magazines are still available, as the format allows us to reprint ad hoc
copies in-house as required (price £3 each), some issues where we have excess pre-printed
stocks are just £1 each or you can purchase all 15 with a free 4 ring File and dividers
for just £35 - prices include UK P&P.
Regular readers tell us they still refer back to their files when visiting a new
destination (to read what it is really like there) and they enjoy rereading anecdotal
pieces too, to remind them of good times when they can’t be in their favourite country.
The vast majority of articles are just as relevant and enjoyable today.

Introductory Issue 1999 2000 2001 2002
From our launch until mid 2002 we built up a circulation to over 1100 Grecophile
subscribers. Most were in the UK, but also some in Greece and other parts of Europe,
plus USA and Australia. Our readers were very enthusiastic, but with 4 publication
deadlines a year to meet and only minimal income, the format was not cost nor time
effective to maintain.
In November 2002 we published our first bumper collection of illustrated articles
and anecdotes in the current more professional paperback book format - the same style
of articles, but more portable and also now available via the book trade.
