How it began ...
When a local Melksham pub was taken over by a Greek Cypriot chef we were obviously interested.  We got chatting with manager Tony, helped out with posters of Greece and were invited to get a crowd of grecophiles together for their opening night Meze on 29th September 2006.

A good time was had by all - some 34 grecophiles first time (Greek-o-File subscribers from Melksham and surrounding area plus pupils from nearby Greek language classes) ..... and so the Melksham Area Grecophiles Social Club was born.  Our aim is simply to get together with fellow grecophiles, chat about Greece and all things Greek over a drink or two, with Greek fare and Greek music.
We had five more mezes at The Bear, but when chef Tony left we came up with a new format for a small core of regulars and ‘occasionals’ - usually about 8 to 14 attendees.  We would love to welcome new members to our local social evenings.

Looking for social groups in your area?  Try Standbrook-guides who include our group in the local small town guides, or why not start your own local grecophiles’ social club.
